For over 20 years BLT has been a leader providing construction and design build services in the restaurant and hospitality sector executing many significant hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues across Canada. BLT opened a second office in 2014 in western Canada largely driven by repeat client business built on our business philosophy of customer first client service.

Our Capabilities

BLT provides a variety of construction services from construction management of interior fit-ups and renovations, to design + build of ground up structures. We have experience taking projects from concept to full delivery and turnover to operations. Our disciplined approach to design and construction focuses on rigour around proper planning, financial controls and communications.

Mark Watts

As founder of BLT Construction, Mark has over 20 years of work experience in the construction industry. Mark has been the guiding hand behind many of Toronto’s most significant hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues. Under his leadership BLT opened its second office in Vancouver in 2014. His project list includes the successful completion of projects such as Real Sports Bar and ACC West Arena Revitalization with MLSE and 2014-2016 Rogers Arena Capital Revitalization for the Canucks Sports and Entertainment just to name a few. Our new and existing clients continue to reach out to Mark and leverage his extensive knowledge and expertise for projects across North America.

Dave Barrow
Executive Vice President

As Executive Vice President of BLT for the past 20 years, Dave has overseen the construction and staffing for all BLT construction sites. Dave has proudly delivered challenging schedules for hundreds of restaurants, office buildings, hotels, and Sprung Structures across Ontario and the Caribbean. Dave has been instrumental in the rapid growth of the Sprung Structures division of BLT who are the Eastern Canada construction partner. Thus far Dave has overseen well over 75 Sprung related projects in the past 15 years. Key clients that continue to reach out to Dave include, Firkin Pub, Trump Hotel and Department of National Defence.

Paul Waddell
Vice President – Design Build

Paul has been a key player in developing over $2.5B worth of prominent projects in the hospitality and sports and entertainment industry over the past 30 years. He has planned, designed, managed and constructed over 200 projects ranging in value from $500,000 to $120,000,000 across North America. Client lists include Hilton Garden Inn, SOHO Metropolitan Hotel, and Adomo Winery. Clients continue to seek out Paul’s leadership and expertise in design build initiatives of complex multi-disciplinary projects including hotels, casinos and sports and entertainment venues.

John Jung
Vice President Operations

With over 20 years of experience and exposure to various sectors of management, purchasing and design, John is able to provide unique insights into the construction management process. His project list covers the expanse of the country, from the Canuck’s Rogers Arena tenant improvement work in Vancouver to the Thompson Hotel and 550 Wellington condominium development in Toronto. John was an integral part of opening BLT’s Vancouver office branch, training and hiring key team members, and spearheading the management of projects. Applying these skills and experiences to bring close attention to fine details and the efficient, systematic approach to construction are the priority, ensuring the “on time and on budget” mantra BLT shares with their Clients.

Arvin Srivastava
Vice President - Development, Design and Marketing

Arvin has over 20 years experience from the client’s perspective in various sectors such as retail, office and hospitality. He has executed projects across Canada and other International markets while in leadership positions within many prominent brands such as FedEx, Bank of Montreal, Yum! Brands, Boston Pizza. Most recently while at CARA Operations Ltd. he executed “1909 Taverne Moderne” – a joint venture project with the Montreal Canadiens delivering a 25,714 sq. ft. multi-level sports and entertainment venue restaurant. Our clients will be able to leverage his knowledge and relationships he has built throughout his career to provide creative solutions to meet challenging economic models and any other project requirement.

Colin Meharchand
Chief Financial Officer

Colin is a seasoned financial professional with experience gained in the public accounting and private sectors. He worked in the public accounting field reaching the level of Partner at Lipton LLP Chartered Accountants in 2000. In 2003 Colin moved his career into industry with a role as Controller at Fram Building Group and in 2007 as Controller with Menkes Developments Ltd. Colin’s tenure in these organizations allowed him to play a critical role in pre-construction analysis, financial feasibility and risk assessments.

Colin will bring his many years of diverse experience in accounting, reporting and taxation to the BLT Senior Leadership Team in all areas of the business with an emphasis on Finance and Risk Management. He will also play a role in managing and enhancing the relationships with BLT’s partners as we grow our business across many segments of the industry.
